LIMOUX : THE « GRAND TERROIR »

FOR WHITE WINES IN THE

LANGUEDOC

Located on the foothills of the Pyrenees, where Atlantic climatic influences
cross Mediterranean ones, the vineyard of Limoux reveals its richness and its
diversity.
It is higher in altitude, cooler and more distant for Mediterranean influences
than any appellation in Languedoc and is considered to be part of the best
terroirs in France for Chardonnay.
As a result of the «sélection au terroir» initiated by Sieur d’Arques thirty
years ago, four distinct terroirs were identified and defined (Mediterranéen,
Océanique, Autan, Haute Vallée) contributing to refine the work of our
oenologists.
The AOC Limoux white wines reveal exceptional complexity and balance,
showing delicate aromas, beautiful acidity and surprising minerality. Besides
the vinification of the Clochers sold during the auction, this detailed vineyard
selection resulted in the elaboration of one «cuvée» per terroir, revealing the
subtle differences between the four terroirs.
Those typical characters represent the pure expression of the notion of terroir
as the four «cuvées» are made from the same grape variety and following
the same vinification process. Those «cuvées» sold under the brand Toques et
Clochers represent the leading reference among AOC white wines.
